Applications
1.Biological Buffers
Molecular Biology: DNA/RNA extraction, agarose gel electrophoresis (TAE/TBE buffers).
Protein Biochemistry: Enzyme activity assays, protein purification, ELISA, and chromatography eluents.
Cell Culture: Maintains stable pH in culture media, compatible with the physiological pH range of 7–9.
Advantages: No calcium/magnesium precipitation (compared to phosphate buffers), excellent compatibility, and high cost-performance.
2.Pharmaceutical Field
Acid-Base Regulator (Tromethamine): Corrects metabolic/respiratory acidosis; penetrates cell membranes without increasing CO₂ retention.
Pharmaceutical Excipient: pH stabilizer for injections (e.g., Iopromide) and lyophilized preparations.
Pharmaceutical Intermediate: Used in the synthesis of antibacterial drugs, local anesthetics, and contrast agents.
3.Cosmetics & Daily Chemicals
pH Adjuster: Provides gentle pH stabilization for lotions, creams, serums, and shampoos, reducing irritation.
Stabilizer: Improves formulation stability and extends shelf life.
4.Industrial Applications
Coatings / Inks: pH adjuster, dispersant, and anti-settling agent.
Surfactants: Synthesis of non-ionic surfactants and emulsifiers.
Rubber Auxiliaries: Vulcanization accelerator and antioxidant intermediate.
Water Treatment: Heavy metal chelating agent and pH regulator.
